Uzbekistan, Pakistan Deepen Strategic Ties in Ninth Round of Political Consultations

The ninth round of inter-ministerial political consultations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan took place in Islamabad on January 31, 2026, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

The Uzbek delegation was led by First Deputy Foreign Minister Bakhrum Jun Aliyev, while Pakistan’s side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Syed Ali Asad Gilani. The talks covered political, trade and economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, with both sides reviewing current collaboration and exploring future opportunities. Progress on agreements reached at higher levels was also assessed.

The meeting noted steady growth in high-level contacts, rising bilateral trade, and the implementation of joint projects in key industrial sectors, describing these developments as encouraging for overall relations.

Special emphasis was placed on boosting parliamentary cooperation, expanding the legal and regulatory framework, and strengthening engagement in multilateral platforms. The delegations stressed the need to fully utilize existing potential in areas such as trade, industry, agriculture, tourism, education, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

Discussions also included planned high-level visits in 2026, upcoming joint events, the next session of the Intergovernmental Commission, as well as proposals for a business forum, national product exhibition, and cultural activities.

Concluding the consultations, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close dialogue between their foreign ministries to further advance practical cooperation across the bilateral agenda.
