TASHKENT: Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent, is set to host the International Media Forum “Islamic Civilization: A New Perspective, New Discoveries” from August 24 to 29, 2026, bringing together journalists, media professionals, experts and specialists from across the world.
The forum’s principal events will be held at the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, featuring an opening ceremony, plenary sessions, specialized media exhibitions and a closing ceremony.
The forum’s discussions will focus on a broad range of contemporary media and cultural themes, including documentary filmmaking, historical memory, media publishing initiatives and emerging technologies. Participants will also explore prospects for strengthening international cooperation and professional partnerships within the global media community.
A dedicated training component will form an integral part of the forum, with specialized workshops organized for Uzbek students and conducted by prominent international media professionals. The sessions are designed to provide young journalists with practical exposure to contemporary reporting techniques, professional media production practices and effective approaches to engaging with the rapidly evolving global media landscape.
The workshops will also provide a platform for professional exchange between established international media practitioners and the next generation of Uzbek journalists, encouraging the transfer of knowledge, experience and professional expertise.
The forum will additionally highlight Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage. As part of the programme, international delegates will travel to Samarkand, where they will visit a number of historic sites, including the Imam Bukhari Complex, one of the region’s most prominent religious and cultural landmarks.
A dedicated media tour of Tashkent has also been arranged for representatives of international media organizations, providing visiting journalists with an opportunity to explore the capital firsthand and develop original reporting material alongside their participation in the forum.
The forum will conclude on August 29, ahead of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day celebrations on September 1. The timing will provide international participants with an opportunity to gain an early insight into the country’s preparations for celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.
The International Media Forum is being organized with the objective of strengthening professional and institutional ties among media practitioners from different countries while highlighting the historical, cultural and intellectual dimensions of Islamic civilization through Uzbekistan’s rich heritage.
