Uzbekistan, Pakistan Seal Deal on Smart Cities and Strategic Mining Cooperation

Uzbekistan and Pakistan have agreed to deepen investment cooperation with a focus on smart city development, infrastructure, and mining projects.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, held talks with Malik Muhammad Aslam, CEO of Pakistan’s Habib Rafiq Ltd, centered on expanding bilateral investment ties. Discussions covered modern infrastructure projects, smart urban development, and opportunities in the mining and processing sectors.

Particular emphasis was placed on copper enrichment, extraction of strategic minerals, and the use of advanced engineering solutions and modern technologies, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Uzbekistan’s ministry and Habib Rafiq Engineering (Private) Limited, establishing a framework for cooperation on smart city initiatives, infrastructure modernization, and broader investment promotion.

Habib Rafiq Ltd, one of Pakistan’s leading engineering and construction groups with more than seven decades of experience, is behind major projects such as Capital Smart City, Lahore Smart City, and Islamabad International Airport, alongside green energy ventures. The company has also partnered with China’s Geely to launch electric vehicle production and introduce innovative technologies.
