Kazakhstan Maps Overhaul of 8 Key Resorts to Drive Tourism Boom

Kazakhstan is ramping up efforts to modernize its tourism sector after completing a nationwide inventory of eight major resort areas in 2025.

Tourism and Sports Minister Yerbol Myrzabosynov said the review has already delivered concrete outcomes, including a draft roadmap for the development of resort zones from 2025 to 2028, The Caspian Post reported, citing Kazakh media.

According to the minister, the roadmap will steer long-term upgrades across priority destinations, with a focus on renewing infrastructure, improving safety standards, and strengthening logistics. Alongside this, Kazakhstan has approved comprehensive development plans for two flagship destinations—the Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort area and the Mangystau tourist zone. The Mangystau plan will run from 2025 to 2029.

Together, these measures are intended to systematically modernize resort facilities, raise visitor safety levels, and broaden tourism services, enhancing the competitiveness and appeal of Kazakhstan’s destinations.

Kazakhstan’s resorts hosted 3.8 million visitors in the first nine months of the year, underscoring rising demand and the need for sustained development across the country’s key tourism hubs.
