Global Destinations Expo Showcases International Culture and Tourism in Islamabad

Islamabad:  A grand Global Destinations Expo was held at the Marriott Hotel Islamabad, organized by Discover Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC). The event drew enthusiastic participation from over fifty embassies and foreign delegates, turning the capital into a vibrant hub of global culture and tourism promotion.

The expo was inaugurated jointly by Discover Pakistan CEO Dr. Qaiser Rafiq, PTDC Managing Director Aftab ur Rehman Rana, and Romania’s Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Dan Stoenescu, alongside ambassadors from several other countries. Embassies set up dedicated stalls showcasing their national culture, arts, handicrafts and rich tourism heritage. A highlight of the event was the variety of international traditional cuisines, which offered visitors a unique chance to savour diverse global flavours under one roof.

Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas attended as the chief guest. Speaking at the closing ceremony, he distributed shields among the international delegates and called the expo “an important milestone for Pakistan’s tourism industry.” He noted that such global events help strengthen tourism, build Pakistan’s image internationally and allow citizens to learn about the cultures and attractions of different countries.

Romania’s Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu praised the initiative, stating that international expos like this deepen ties between Pakistan and other nations while projecting a positive image of the country. PTDC Managing Director Aftab ur Rehman Rana appreciated the efforts of Discover Pakistan and PTDC teams in organizing the mega event, emphasizing the role of tourism in fostering people-to-people connections. He highlighted that the expo brought together international communities and Pakistani stakeholders on an equal platform.

Discover Pakistan CEO Dr. Qaiser Rafiq presented bouquets to guest delegations and briefed them on Pakistan’s vast tourism potential and cultural heritage. In his address, he thanked the Prime Minister for supporting tourism initiatives and announced plans for an even larger expo next year, reflecting Pakistan’s growing commitment to strengthening global tourism partnerships.
