Mirziyoyev Reviews Flagship Transport Projects Shaping New Tashkent

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has inspected major transport infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening connectivity between Tashkent and New Tashkent.

During his review of ongoing development works in New Tashkent, the president examined the construction of a new bridge over the Chirchik River and a large parking facility integrated with a metro station, The Caspian Post reported, citing Uzbek media.

The projects are intended to improve transport links between the capital and New Tashkent, ease traffic congestion, and create a more convenient and sustainable urban environment.

Officials said the new bridge will ensure direct connectivity between Tashkent and New Tashkent, with a projected capacity of 40,000 to 50,000 vehicles per day. Construction under the first phase of the project began at the end of this year.

Environmental considerations are central to the project. Plans include landscaping along the riverbanks, installing energy-efficient lighting, and developing pedestrian and bicycle paths. A two-lane tram line will also run across the bridge.

The planned metro line will extend 21 kilometers and feature nine modern stations. It is expected to serve up to 230,000 passengers daily and will be fully integrated into the existing Tashkent Metro network, creating a unified transport system.

President Mirziyoyev also reviewed progress at one of the stations that will be combined with a 20,000-square-meter parking facility. The design ensures a clear separation of vehicle, pedestrian, and public transport flows, prioritizing safety and functionality.

Earthworks and concrete construction are currently under way, with the complex scheduled for commissioning in 2027.

The president instructed officials to ensure high construction standards and the timely completion of all projects.
