Japarov Dismisses Coup Rumors, Says Kyrgyzstan’s Stability ‘Fully under Control’.

Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov has rejected speculation about a possible coup, insisting that no conditions exist in the country that could lead to an unconstitutional change of power.
Speaking on the political situation, Japarov said stability remains firmly intact and that he personally supervises the work of state institutions, The Caspian Post reported, citing Russian media.
“No Conditions Exist for a Coup”
“There is no situation in the country that could lead to a coup. If there are 24 hours in a day, I work 20 of them. I monitor everything closely, and if anything is wrong, I immediately instruct ministers, local authorities, and governors to fix it,” the president said.
He added that both the legal framework and the current political climate make any coup attempt impossible, stressing that maintaining stability is a central priority of his administration.
President Warns Against Regional Divisions
Japarov also addressed concerns about potential tensions between Kyrgyzstan’s northern and southern regions, which have historically shaped the country’s political landscape.
He said regional divisions were often encouraged by politicians pursuing personal interests after independence, recalling that government posts were frequently distributed along regional lines when he entered politics in 2005.
“I promised myself that if I became president, I would cure Kyrgyzstan of this problem,” he said.
Reforms Aimed at Strengthening National Unity
According to Japarov, wide-ranging personnel reforms launched in 2021 have helped reduce regional imbalances within state institutions. The measures included rotating regional governors, judges, and officials from key bodies such as the national security service, the Interior Ministry, and the prosecutor’s office.
He said the reforms are intended to promote national unity, ensure fairness in governance, and reinforce the stability of Kyrgyzstan’s political system.
