Uzbekistan Airways Sets Course to Double Fleet with Major Airbus, Boeing Orders

Uzbekistan Airways is aiming to at least double its aircraft fleet by 2030, supported by large-scale deliveries and ongoing expansion efforts.
At a press conference on January 28, airline chairman Shukhrat Khudaykulov said the carrier currently operates 47 aircraft and is set to receive four additional leased planes this year, according to Uzbek media cited by The Caspian Post.
The growth plan includes firm contracts with Airbus for 14 aircraft and Boeing for 22 aircraft. Airbus deliveries are scheduled over three years, with four planes arriving in 2028, six in 2029, and four in 2030. Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will begin arriving at the end of 2030 under credit-financed arrangements.
Khudaykulov noted that fleet expansion is already underway, with this year’s leased aircraft marking the first phase. He said strong market demand supports the strategy and that, based on current projections, the fleet will at least double by 2030.

The airline’s plans build on earlier acquisitions, including a 2022 Airbus deal for 12 aircraft — eight A320neo and four A321neo — worth €694.3 million, along with two H145 helicopters valued at €21 million. Five ATR-72 aircraft were also purchased for the regional carrier Silk Avia.
The expansion aligns with Uzbekistan’s broader civil aviation development program. In October 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved targets for 2030 that include increasing the combined domestic airline fleet to 180 aircraft, boosting annual flights to 200,000, and raising passenger traffic to 24 million.
