Tourism Emerges as Key Growth Driver in Kyrgyzstan’s Economy

Tourism continued to strengthen its contribution to Kyrgyzstan’s economy in 2025, accounting for 4.3 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product, according to Adilet Januzakov, Director of the Kyrgyz Tourism Support Development Fund.
Sharing the data, Januzakov noted that the sector’s contribution has increased compared with the same period in 2024, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
He stressed that tourism should be viewed as a major economic engine. To ensure sustainable development, the government is prioritizing the rational use of natural and landscape resources, while simultaneously focusing on their protection and enhancing their appeal for visitors.
Tourist inflows have also shown steady growth. Approximately 10 million people visited the Kyrgyz Republic in 2025, reflecting rising international and regional interest in the country.
Kyrgyzstan’s progress in tourism has gained international recognition as well, with prominent global media outlets, including Lonely Planet, commending the country’s dynamic development and reinforcing its image as an emerging travel destination.
