Four Medals Power Kazakhstan to Third Place at Antalya Wrestling Meet

Kazakhstan’s Greco-Roman wrestling team delivered an assured showing at the Yasar Dogu, Vehbi Emre and Hamit Kaplan International Wrestling Tournament in Antalya, Türkiye, securing four medals and a podium finish in the team standings.

Yusuf Ashrapov (72 kg) and Bagdat Sabaz (67 kg) captured gold after overcoming Turkish opponents in their respective finals, underlining Kazakhstan’s rising stature in Greco-Roman wrestling at the international level, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The medal tally was completed by bronze finishes from Yerkebulan Ardakov (63 kg) and Rakhat Berzhanov (97 kg). Accumulating 104 points overall, Kazakhstan finished third in the team rankings.

Kazakhstan did not field competitors in the women’s wrestling events this year, while the freestyle competition is scheduled to get underway in the coming days. The nation’s freestyle program has also shown encouraging signs, highlighted by Rizabek Aitmukhan’s silver medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh last November, pointing to further strong performances ahead.
