Tajikistan Quake Ripples across Borders, Felt in Uzbekistan

A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck Tajikistan in the early hours, sending seismic tremors across parts of Central Asia and being felt in neighboring Uzbekistan.
According to The Caspian Post, citing Uzbek media, the earthquake was recorded at 02:14 (GMT+5).
The epicenter was located in Tajikistan’s Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region at a depth of 139 kilometers, at coordinates 38.39° north latitude and 73.37° east longitude.
The quake originated approximately 477 kilometers southeast of Tashkent. Despite the distance, seismic vibrations were registered in several regions of Uzbekistan, though with relatively low intensity.
In the Ferghana Region, tremors measured 2–3 points at a distance of around 260 kilometers from the epicenter. Andijan Region experienced shaking of about 2 points at roughly 285 kilometers, while Namangan Region recorded tremors reaching up to 2 points at an estimated distance of 325 kilometers.
Uzbek authorities confirmed that no damage or casualties were reported. Seismologists continue to monitor the situation, noting that deep-focus earthquakes can be felt across wide areas but usually result in minimal surface impact.
