Belarus and Turkmenistan step up Cooperation in Agriculture and Tourism

Belarus and Turkmenistan are set to deepen bilateral cooperation in agriculture, culture, and tourism following high-level discussions held in Ashgabat.

Belarusโ€™s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, Stanislav Chepurnoy, met senior Turkmen officials to explore a range of joint initiatives, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

In talks with Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture Tangryguly Atahalliyev, the sides focused on expanding agricultural cooperation, including the possible participation of a Turkmen delegation in Belarusian Agro-Industrial Week and the 36th International Specialized Exhibition BELAGRO-2026.

Both countries also expressed interest in strengthening collaboration between specialized agricultural research institutions, particularly in veterinary science, seed production, and livestock farmingโ€”sectors viewed as vital for enhancing food security and innovation.

Cultural and tourism cooperation featured prominently as well. In a separate meeting with Bahar Seidova, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for Culture, Tourism, and Media, discussions covered plans for exchange Days of Culture, joint exhibitions, and other cultural initiatives. The resumption of direct flights between Minsk and Ashgabat was highlighted as a key step toward boosting people-to-people contacts and supporting tourism growth.
