Uzbekistan, Pakistan Explore Deeper Interbank Cooperation

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, held meeting in Karachi with the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Jamil Ahmad, to discuss the advancement of bilateral financial cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the current level of interbank collaboration and deliberated on new avenues to strengthen ties between financial institutions of the two countries. Key areas of discussion included the modernization of payment systems, broader partnership in the banking sector, and enhanced professional exchanges between specialists from Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Tukhtayev underscored that a strong financial framework is essential for the expanding economic partnership between the two nations. Governor Jamil Ahmad reaffirmed Pakistan’s interest in deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan and stressed the importance of continued progress on commitments made during earlier high-level engagements.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold a follow-up videoconference between the Central Bank of Uzbekistan and the State Bank of Pakistan to further develop the discussed initiatives.

Ambassador Tukhtayev expressed confidence that increased cooperation in the financial sector will help unlock new business and investment opportunities, further strengthening the Uzbekistan–Pakistan partnership.

“We continue to build bridges of trust and mutual benefit between Uzbekistan and Pakistan,” the Ambassador remarked.
