Uzbekistan–Pakistan Ties Enter New Phase of Strategic Cooperation

The state visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan has further strengthened and elevated the strategic partnership between the two countries.
High-level talks held in Islamabad were described as productive, open and result-oriented, laying a solid foundation for regional sustainability, economic integration and long-term cooperation, The Caspian Post reported, citing Uzbek media.
During the visit, multiple bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed, covering a wide range of areas including trade, investment, defense, security, education, science, agriculture, information technology, culture, sports and ecology.
In the economic sphere, the two sides set an ambitious target to raise bilateral trade turnover to $2 billion in the near future.
The talks also placed strong emphasis on regional and international security, cooperation against extremism and terrorism, and efforts to maintain stability in Afghanistan.
Systematic cooperation is advancing in transport, communications and logistics, with particular focus on accelerating the implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway project and promoting the Pakistan–China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan transport corridor.
The leaders additionally highlighted expanding collaboration in cultural and humanitarian fields. Youth exchanges, educational initiatives, sports cooperation and cultural projects were identified as key tools for strengthening mutual understanding and people-to-people ties.
Overall, the agreements reached during the visit are expected to further deepen cooperation in priority areas and open a new chapter in Uzbekistan–Pakistan relations.
