Kazakhstan, Egypt Seek Deeper Partnership in Healthcare and Medical Innovation

Kazakhstan and Egypt are looking to expand cooperation in healthcare, medicine, and pharmaceuticals following high-level talks held in Cairo.

Kazakh Ambassador Askar Zhengis met with Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, where both sides underscored the strategic importance of strengthening bilateral ties in the medical sector, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

The discussions explored potential collaboration across a broad range of healthcare fields, including traditional medicine, pharmaceuticals, epidemiology, and disease prevention. Particular emphasis was placed on exchanging expertise among doctors, scientists, and researchers, as well as cooperation through joint conferences, exhibitions, and the sharing of data on major infectious diseases.

Officials also discussed fostering closer links between leading medical scientists from both countries, including regular exchanges of experience in complex surgical procedures.

Ambassador Zhengis noted that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has declared 2026 the “Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence” in Kazakhstan. As part of this drive, Kazakhstan is developing an AI-based system to monitor the quality and volume of medical services nationwide, while also implementing measures to enhance doctors’ professional standing and social conditions.

In response, Abdel-Ghaffar expressed strong interest in Kazakhstan’s proposals and confirmed Egypt’s readiness to fully support their joint implementation, voicing confidence in the success of the planned initiatives.

Separately, Kazakhstan continues to advance its diplomatic outreach, with Ambassador to the Czech Republic Kairat Abdrakhmanov recently presenting his Letters of Credence to Czech President Petr Pavel.
