Government Committed to Women’s Empowerment and Welfare: Ishaq Dar

Islamabad – : Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering women and advancing welfare initiatives that enhance their socio-economic well-being. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Annual Charity Bazaar 2025, organized by the Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association (PFOWA) in Islamabad.

Ishaq Dar, accompanied by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, visited various stalls set up by participating countries, appreciating their efforts and symbolic spirit of cooperation and friendship.

Addressing the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister commended PFOWA for its dedication to humanitarian work, saying its commitment reflects “service beyond duty” and embodies the highest values of public responsibility. He said that Pakistan’s faith places special emphasis on the virtue of giving, and PFOWA’s work stands as a practical demonstration of this principle.

He highlighted the association’s long-standing legacy of generosity, noting that PFOWA has consistently supported not only the families of the Foreign Service but also underprivileged communities nationwide. Its contributions in education, healthcare, and social welfare were particularly praised.

Dar also acknowledged PFOWA’s impactful role during recent floods, where it extended support to the National Disaster Management Authority, the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, and major hospitals including PIMS and Polyclinic. These efforts, he said, demonstrate the association’s sustained commitment to social development and humanitarian service.

Referring to his recent international engagements, the Deputy Prime Minister shared that he had returned late last night after representing Pakistan at the SCO Council of Heads of Government Meeting in Moscow and the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Brussels. His Brussels visit also included the successful Pakistan–EU 7th Strategic Dialogue and nearly two dozen bilateral meetings.

He said the work carried out by the Foreign Office team in the national interest during these engagements is “extremely valuable” and reflects Pakistan’s active and principled role on the global stage.
