Uzbek Flash Mob Lights Up Centaurus Mall Ahead of National Day Celebrations

ISLAMABAD: Shoppers at Centaurus Mall were treated to a surprise spectacle on Sunday when a flash mob burst into patriotic songs and dances to mark Uzbekistan’s upcoming National Day, celebrated annually on September 1.
The event, organised by the Embassy of Uzbekistan, drew large crowds as performers showcased vibrant traditional music and dance. Visitors waved the blue, white and green Uzbek flags in a lively display of cultural solidarity.
Uzbek Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, known for bringing immersive cultural diplomacy to Islamabad, spearheaded the initiative to engage both the diplomatic community and the city’s residents. “It’s a truly exceptional experience with the ability to transcend boundaries,” one audience member remarked, as the performances transformed the mall into a festival of color and rhythm.
The gathering was attended by several foreign envoys, including Azerbaijani Ambassador Khazar Farhadov and Turkmen Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov, underscoring the regional camaraderie on display.
In parallel, the Uzbek embassy also released a report highlighting the country’s expanding tourism sector, calling on businesses to explore new investment opportunities. The announcement came as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025 opened in China, with Pakistan among the 10 permanent member states participating.
According to the embassy statement, Uzbekistan’s tourism cooperation with China now encompasses tourist flows, infrastructure, investment, and technological exchange. The expansion of exhibition venues, high-level forums, and new air routes are creating fresh avenues for Chinese investment in Uzbekistan’s tourism industry, positioning the country as both a travel destination and a promising investment hub.
