Uzbekistan and Punjab Agree to Expand Direct Regional Cooperation

Islamabad: Uzbekistan and Pakistan have taken a fresh step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation as the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan continues efforts to promote direct interregional partnerships between the two countries.
A key development came during a recent meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where important understandings were reached to enhance direct cooperation between the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Province of Punjab.
According to the statement, both sides discussed cooperation in several major sectors, including investment, industrial collaboration, agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, information technology and logistics. The proposed establishment of a Special Economic Zone and the launch of joint projects were also part of the discussions.
The two sides also agreed to explore a sister-city relationship between Nukus and Lahore, a move expected to deepen cultural, economic and people-to-people ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
The agreements are being seen as an important milestone in advancing the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries. Officials believe the new framework will create practical opportunities for mutually beneficial projects and further expansion of trade and economic cooperation.
The Embassy of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that the understandings reached with the Punjab leadership would provide a strong foundation for future collaboration and open new avenues for regional connectivity, investment and industrial growth.
