Iran Calls on Europe to Stay Neutral in Nuclear Negotiations

Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged European countries to maintain impartiality and independence in the ongoing nuclear talks if they wish to play a significant role. In an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde, Araghchi stressed that true neutrality involves openly condemning Israeli aggression.
He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), dismissing any notion of withdrawal. The diplomatic discussions between Washington and Tehran are currently mediated through several friendly nations, with the possibility of changes based on prior agreements.
In a related development, Iran’s parliament recently passed a resolution to halt cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which may impact the agency’s oversight capabilities. This decision follows recent attacks on Iran’s uranium enrichment sites by the US and Israel.
The extent of the damage caused by these attacks is still unknown, as is the status of roughly nine tons of enriched uranium, including about 400 kilograms enriched to 60 percent.
