Tajikistan’s Fruit Exports to Kazakhstan Decline in 2025

Tajikistan reduced its fruit shipments to Kazakhstan in 2025, as exports of key products fell and the country failed to secure leading positions in several major segments of the Kazakh market.

Data from the LS portal for January–October 2025 show that Tajikistan continues to export fruit to Kazakhstan, but its volumes remain significantly lower than those of neighboring suppliers, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tajik media.

Grapes remained Tajikistan’s main export item, though deliveries declined year on year. During the first ten months of 2025, Kazakhstan imported around 9,400 tons of Tajik grapes, marking a 9.7 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2024. The value of these shipments was estimated at about $3 million.

The stone fruit segment experienced an even steeper drop. Exports of peaches, plums, cherries, and apricots amounted to roughly 1,700 tons, which is 2.5 times less than a year earlier, with imports valued at approximately $795,000.

In several other fruit categories, Tajikistan did not rank among Kazakhstan’s main suppliers. Apples were primarily imported from China, while Iran dominated the watermelon market. Other suppliers included countries such as Chile and Algeria.

Overall, Tajikistan’s fruit exports to Kazakhstan in 2025 remained concentrated on grapes and stone fruits, both of which saw declining volumes, underscoring intensifying competition and shifting trade dynamics in the regional fruit market.
