Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Declares India Cannot Stop or Divert Pakistan’s Water

Kuala Lumpur: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly stated that India neither has the ability to stop Pakistan’s water flow nor divert it. He condemned India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and announced Pakistan’s closure of its airspace in response.
Speaking at a gathering of the Pakistani community abroad, Ishaq Dar emphasized that overseas Pakistanis serve as ambassadors for their country. He highlighted the strong and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia, while also outlining Pakistan’s economic progress — noting a significant drop in policy rates and inflation.
Dar criticized India’s recent actions, including the closure of the Attari border and violation of the Indus Waters Treaty. He shared that Pakistan’s National Security Committee has decided on strong retaliatory measures, including sealing the Wagah border, canceling Indian visas, and suspending air links.
He further reiterated Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and expressed confidence in the country’s continued international support, citing Pakistan’s success in the UN Security Council vote.
During the visit, Ishaq Dar met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, with both leaders pledging to enhance bilateral ties. The Malaysian Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Pakistan in October this year.
