PESHAWAR:- The Under-21 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Games 2026 have officially kicked off, marking a major milestone for youth development and provincial unity. Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, officially inaugurated the Under-21 Games at the Peshawar Sports Complex. Advisor to CM on Sports and Youth Affairs, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, and other officials were also present on the occasion. This year’s event showcases a massive expansion in athletic opportunities, featuring 38 sports categories for men and 18 for women. By bringing together such a diverse group of athletes, the games aim to celebrate local talent and foster a spirit of healthy competition across the province.
Our goal is to organize maximum positive activities and keep our sports grounds vibrant. We aim to bring the best talent forward and make our province and country proud in other sports, just as we do in cricket,” stated Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
By investing in grassroots talent across dozens of disciplines, ranging from traditional athletics to modern sports like Futsal and Archery, the goal is to prepare athletes for success on both national and international stages. This developmental approach seeks to broaden the province’s sporting identity beyond just cricket, ensuring a more inclusive future for all athletes.
In tandem with these games, the province is celebrating significant infrastructure upgrades. According to CM KP, the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium is now fully prepared to host matches for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season, signaling the return of high-level professional cricket to Peshawar. This development, combined with the U-21 Games being held across various venues like the Hayatabad, Kohat, and Mardan sports complexes, highlights a comprehensive effort to modernize sports facilities. As the competitions proceed, the provincial administration has pledged ongoing support for the participants, ensuring that the top performers are honored at the upcoming closing ceremony.
