Uzbekistan, Türkiye Seal Sweeping Strategic Partnership Deals in Ankara

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have signed a wide-ranging package of bilateral agreements following the fourth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Ankara, marking a new phase in their comprehensive strategic partnership.
At the heart of the package was a Joint Statement, alongside decisions setting out concrete mechanisms to deepen cooperation under the strategic partnership framework, according to the Uzbek president’s office.
The agreements go beyond political commitments, covering practical cooperation across security, economic, social, and humanitarian sectors.
Key areas include collaboration in military medicine, healthcare, and education, as well as coordinated efforts on the return of labor migrants. Economic cooperation features prominently, with a focus on developing international transport corridors, supporting special economic zones, and expanding partnership in the mining sector.
The two sides also strengthened security and cultural ties, approving a 2026–2027 cooperation program between their foreign ministries and a cultural cooperation plan. Additional agreements were signed on information sharing in nuclear and radiation safety.
Religious authorities from both countries formalized cooperation through a dedicated protocol, highlighting the close spiritual and cultural bonds between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
