Uzbekistan Ousts 59 Judges in 2025 Judicial Overhaul

In Uzbekistan, 59 judges were removed from their positions in 2025 as part of reforms within the judicial system.
At a press conference, Alisher Usmanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, stated that three judges were convicted of corruption-related offenses, The Caspian Post reports citing Uzbek media.
He specified that the convictions were for accepting bribes, not for issuing unlawful court decisions. All three individuals are currently serving their sentences.
Of the remaining 56 judges who left their posts, six were dismissed for violating the Code of Judicial Ethics, while ten were removed for breaches of legality in the administration of justice. One judge was dismissed for committing an offense that harmed the honor and reputation of the judiciary.
Additionally, 35 judges resigned voluntarily by submitting written statements, and the authority of four judges ended due to their deaths.
