Uzbekistan, China Move Toward Major Expansion of Mining Cooperation

Uzbekistan and China are advancing efforts to deepen cooperation in the mining sector following high-level discussions between officials and industry leaders.

R. Yusupov, Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of Uzbekistan, along with senior ministry representatives, held a videoconference with executives from China Coal Resource Development, according to The Caspian Post citing Uzbek media.

During the talks, the Chinese side voiced strong interest in launching long-term joint projects, including modernizing existing production facilities and increasing mining output. Discussions focused on leveraging Chinese technological expertise alongside Uzbekistanโ€™s rich resource base.

Both sides agreed to develop concrete project proposals and feasibility studies to support the initiatives and to continue negotiations on cooperation frameworks, pointing to a potential strengthening of bilateral ties in the mining and geology sector.
