Uzbekistan, China Move Toward Major Expansion of Mining Cooperation

Uzbekistan and China are advancing efforts to deepen cooperation in the mining sector following high-level discussions between officials and industry leaders.
R. Yusupov, Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of Uzbekistan, along with senior ministry representatives, held a videoconference with executives from China Coal Resource Development, according to The Caspian Post citing Uzbek media.
During the talks, the Chinese side voiced strong interest in launching long-term joint projects, including modernizing existing production facilities and increasing mining output. Discussions focused on leveraging Chinese technological expertise alongside Uzbekistan’s rich resource base.
Both sides agreed to develop concrete project proposals and feasibility studies to support the initiatives and to continue negotiations on cooperation frameworks, pointing to a potential strengthening of bilateral ties in the mining and geology sector.
