Tashkent ย โ Uzbekistan is reshaping its foreign policy and diplomatic missions to prioritize economic engagement, citizen protection, and strategic partnerships, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced at an expanded session on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mirziyoyev highlighted 2025 as a record year for Uzbek diplomacy. High-level visits to 26 countries, strengthened regional cooperation through the โCentral Asia Plusโ format, and new strategic partnerships with 11 nations have bolstered Uzbekistanโs global standing. Foreign trade turnover surpassed $80 billion for the first time, exports reached $33.5 billion, and foreign investment topped $43 billion.
The President stressed that modern ambassadors must go beyond political dialogue to attract investment, expand exports, promote tourism, facilitate legal labor migration, and safeguard citizens abroad. Key sectors identified for international engagement include industry, agriculture, textiles, chemicals, and services.
Mirziyoyev also called for closer coordination between ministries, diplomatic missions, and regional authorities, systematic use of international grants, and partnerships with top-ranked global universities. To recognize outstanding diplomats, the honorary title โHonored Diplomat of the Republic of Uzbekistanโ will be introduced.
โThe time has come for a new generation of diplomats โ those who achieve concrete results and firmly defend Uzbekistanโs interests in the international arena,โ the President said.
Ambassadorsโ reports and proposals were reviewed, underscoring Uzbekistanโs drive to enhance its economic diplomacy and international influence.
