Uzbekistan Scores Gas Find as Muynak Well Delivers Commercial Flow

A significant geological breakthrough has been recorded at the Ustyurt field in Uzbekistan’s Muynak district, where exploration well No. 3 has produced a commercial flow of natural gas.
Drilling at the well began on September 8 and was carried out by Uzneftegaz Drilling Operations. The operation reached a depth of 4,940 meters, targeting Lower Jurassic formations considered to have strong hydrocarbon potential, The Caspian Post reported, citing Uzbek media.
Over the next three days, specialists will conduct detailed studies of the reservoir’s natural characteristics, including daily production rates, reservoir pressure, and other key indicators needed to assess its commercial viability.
At the same time, drilling and testing are continuing at two additional wells at the Muynak field. Results from these wells are expected shortly and could further strengthen Uzbekistan’s resource base and enhance future gas production prospects.
