Over 2.5 Million Tajiks Visit Uzbekistan, Powering Tourism Surge

Tajikistan has emerged as one of Uzbekistan’s leading sources of international tourists, with more than 2.5 million Tajik citizens visiting the country in the first 11 months of 2025.
According to Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee, 10.7 million foreign tourists arrived in the country from January to November, marking a sharp 47.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year, The Caspian Post reported, citing Tajik media.
The strongest tourist inflows came from neighboring states, led by Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan.
Kyrgyzstan ranked first with around 3 million visitors, followed closely by Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, each accounting for about 2.5 million tourists. Russia placed fourth with 923,800 visitors, while Afghanistan rounded out the top five with 429,400 tourists.
Tourism growth is also moving in the opposite direction. In the first nine months of 2025, approximately 835,800 Uzbek citizens traveled to Tajikistan. Analysts say expanding cross-border travel is expected to boost tourism services, accelerate infrastructure development, and improve service quality in both countries, further strengthening regional tourism links.
