Historic Nationwide Strike Against Modi Government; Millions of Workers and Farmers Protest

New Delhi:A historic nationwide strike is underway across India against the Modi government, with 300 to 400 million workers, farmers, bank employees, and transport workers participating in the massive protest. Due to the strike, railway stations, banks, markets, schools, and offices remain completely shut.

According to the prominent Indian newspaper The Hindu, the strike has caused an estimated economic loss of approximately 1.5 trillion Indian rupees. The protest was called in response to anti-farmer policies and labor-unfriendly laws. Public transport, banks, and offices remain closed in states including Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Maharashtra.

Farmers and workers claim that the Modi government has failed to fulfill its promises, and this protest reflects a public loss of faith in the government’s democratic claims. Analysts say the strike exposes the internal weaknesses of the Modi administration.
