Disqualification Reference: Suspended MPAs Meet Punjab Assembly Speaker, Agree to Continue Dialogue

Lahore: Tensions in the Punjab Assembly appear to be easing as suspended opposition members met with Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan to discuss the ongoing disqualification reference. Both parties agreed to continue negotiations in the coming days.
The meeting, which lasted for over an hour, was led by Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar. On the government’s side, the Speaker was accompanied by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Chief Whip Rana Muhammad Arshad, and other senior officials.
According to sources, key issues were discussed during the meeting, including the disqualification reference, opposition’s objections, and the conduct of assembly proceedings. Both sides agreed to hold the next round of talks on Sunday.
Speaking to the media, Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar remarked, “This was not a mere meeting — it was a formal hearing before the Speaker.” He also rejected recent remarks made by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah regarding Imran Khan’s sons, calling them “false and baseless
