Gujranwala: The first Kazakhstan Pakistan Artificial Intelligence Center was inaugurated in Gujranwala on July 6, marking a new step in technological and academic cooperation between the two countries.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, attended the opening ceremony along with representatives from academia, business and the technology sector. A bilateral cooperation agreement was also signed on the occasion.
The center has been established at GIFT University and is the outcome of agreements reached during the business forum held in Islamabad as part of the state visit of Kazakhstan’s President, H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on February 3 and 4, 2026.
Prof. Muhammad Anwar Dar, Founder and Chairman of GIFT University, and Ahmad Ikram Lone, Chairman of the Gujranwala Business Alliance and initiator of the project, thanked the Kazakh side for supporting the initiative. They also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation with Kazakh partners in the field of artificial intelligence.
Nurgozha Kaliaskarov, Head of the Kazakh company NSART, highlighted the importance of the initiative and said efforts would be made to ensure the center operates in a meaningful and practical manner.
Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin congratulated the participants on the launch of the project and said the leadership of Kazakhstan and Pakistan attached high priority to cooperation in artificial intelligence. He noted that the center would help strengthen academic, technological and business linkages between the two countries.
During his visit to Gujranwala, Ambassador Kistafin also visited the headquarters of the Gujranwala Business Alliance and the newly established Gujranwala Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In meetings with representatives of the local business community, both sides discussed ways to strengthen business relations and expand trade and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
At the conclusion of the talks, the parties agreed to organize a future visit to Kazakhstan by a delegation from Gujranwala, comprising representatives from the business and academic sectors.
