Russia–Tajikistan Trade Surges Past $1.68bn in First Nine Months of 2025

Trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan rose by more than 17 per cent in the first nine months of 2025 compared with the same period last year, exceeding $1.68 billion, Russian Ambassador to Dushanbe Semyon Grigoriev said.
“Russia has remained one of Tajikistan’s key economic and trade partners for decades,” Grigoriev noted, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tajik media.
In 2024, Russia accounted for 22.1 per cent of Tajikistan’s foreign trade, while its share stood at 21.5 per cent in January–September 2025, pointing to stable and systematic bilateral economic relations.
The trade structure is largely driven by Tajikistan’s imports from Russia, including oil products, foodstuffs, agricultural raw materials, chemicals, wood and paper products, as well as metals and metal goods. Most of these sectors have recorded positive growth this year.
The ambassador also outlined prospects for further expansion, including higher Russian exports of food, construction materials, ferrous metals, and processed goods, along with increased Tajik exports of agricultural produce, processed foods, and textiles to the Russian market. Early vegetables, fruits, and higher-value items such as dried fruits and processed foods continue to see strong demand.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon discussed plans to boost bilateral trade by 2.5 times by 2030, underscoring a strong commitment to deepening economic cooperation.
