Kazakhstan announced that a U.S.โCentral Asia Summit will take place in Washington on November 6, hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump, according to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayevโs press office.
Tokayev thanked Trump for the invitation, describing the summit as โtimely and importantโ and expressing support for Trumpโs commitment to โtraditional values, peace, and security.โ The event will mark the 10th anniversary of the C5+1 diplomatic platform, which brings together the United States and the five Central Asian nations โ Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Uzbek outlet Gazeta confirmed that Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has also been invited. The summit announcement coincides with a visit to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan by U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
Trump recently met Tokayev and Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, where multi-billion-dollar business deals were signed. Analysts say the upcoming summit could bolster U.S. engagement in Central Asia and counterbalance the regional influence of Russia and China.
A U.S. congressional panel had earlier urged Trump to host such a meeting, emphasizing cooperation on critical minerals, trade liberalization, and counterterrorism efforts targeting the Islamic Stateโs regional branch.
