Chinese company interested in constructing solar and wind power plants in Tajikistan

China’s Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd. plans to collaborate with Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources to develop solar and wind power projects in the country, according to Khovar.
During a meeting in Dushanbe, Tajik Energy Minister Daler Juma and Shanghai Electric Chairman Wu Lei discussed expanding renewable energy cooperation and explored mutually beneficial investment opportunities in Tajikistan’s energy sector.
The Chinese company expressed interest in projects including the construction of solar and wind power stations, high-voltage transmission lines, waste-to-energy plants, and a joint venture to produce electromechanical equipment.
The talks reflect Tajikistan’s growing efforts to attract foreign investment for renewable energy development. Earlier, Dushanbe also held discussions with Saudi Arabia on bilateral cooperation and human rights.
