Chinese company interested in constructing solar and wind power plants in Tajikistan

Chinaโ€™s Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd. plans to collaborate with Tajikistanโ€™s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources to develop solar and wind power projects in the country, according to Khovar.

During a meeting in Dushanbe, Tajik Energy Minister Daler Juma and Shanghai Electric Chairman Wu Lei discussed expanding renewable energy cooperation and explored mutually beneficial investment opportunities in Tajikistanโ€™s energy sector.

The Chinese company expressed interest in projects including the construction of solar and wind power stations, high-voltage transmission lines, waste-to-energy plants, and a joint venture to produce electromechanical equipment.

The talks reflect Tajikistanโ€™s growing efforts to attract foreign investment for renewable energy development. Earlier, Dushanbe also held discussions with Saudi Arabia on bilateral cooperation and human rights.
