Fire guts another madrassa in IIOJK amid fears of Hindutva regimeโ€™s campaign

A massive fire broke out at a religious seminary (madrassa), reducing a three-storey building to ashes in the Bongam Rahmoo area of Pulwama district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmiron on Monday morning.

The blaze engulfed the concrete structure belonging to the local Darsgah in the early hours of the day. No casualties were reported. However, the seminary building was completely gutted, and an assessment of property loss is underway.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, residents and rights groups have expressed strong concern, linking the incident to the Modi regimeโ€™s ongoing anti-Islam campaign aimed at economically crippling Muslim institutions. They said the authorities often question madrassa administrators about the source of reconstruction funds, creating deliberate hurdles to prevent the rebuilding of such institutions.

Local people said the latest blaze is part of a disturbing pattern, as several Islamic seminaries have recently suffered fire damage under suspicious circumstances. These include:

๐Ÿ”น Darul Uloom in Parrypora, Pulwama

๐Ÿ”น Islamic seminary in Boniyar, Baramulla

๐Ÿ”น Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom in Imamsahib, Shopian

๐Ÿ”น Madras Sal-Sabeel-ul-Saleem in Srinagar

These repeated incidents have triggered widespread outrage, with locals viewing them as a systematic attempt by the BJP-RSS regime to erase Islamic educational and cultural identity in the occupied territory under the pretext of โ€œsecurityโ€ and โ€œregulation.โ€

Kashmiris fear that beyond physical destruction, the policy seeks to financially suffocate madrassa networks โ€” first by burning down their properties, then by obstructing their reconstruction through interrogations and bureaucratic harassment.
