Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Holds Zoom Meeting with Transsion Tecno CEO on Mobile Phone Device Policy

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Haroon Akhtar Khan, recently held a Zoom meeting with Amir Allahwala, CEO of Transsion Tecno, alongside representatives from the Engineering Development Board to discuss the Mobile Phone Device Policy and related industry concerns.
Key Industry Discussions and Challenges
The meeting addressed several important topics including the mobile phone device policy, tariff duty challenges, and issues surrounding mobile phone exports.
Additionally, the discussion covered the market dynamics for used cars and used mobile phones, highlighting ongoing technological innovations within the sector.
Haroon Akhtar Khan pointed out that 38 mobile phone companies in Pakistan have generated around 40,000 jobs, showcasing the industry’s substantial contribution to employment and its potential for expanding exports worldwide.
Government’s Commitment to Industrial Growth
Emphasizing the government’s focus on promoting industrial growth, Haroon Akhtar Khan stated that under the Prime Minister’s directives, boosting the local industry and increasing exports are top priorities.
He stressed that if the sector adopts technology upgrades effectively, Pakistan could become a strong competitor in the regional market.
The Special Assistant assured stakeholders that the government, along with the Ministry of Industries and Production, is actively supporting the industrial sector’s interests in the Tariff Policy Board, aiming to create a favorable environment for investment and export growth.
This meeting underlines the government’s dedication to fostering a competitive, innovation-driven mobile phone industry in Pakistan.
