Pakistan, Uzbekistan Ink Roadmap to Deepen Academic and Cultural Cooperation

Tashkent — In a significant step toward expanding bilateral educational and cultural linkages, the Embassy of Pakistan in Tashkent and the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) have signed a comprehensive Roadmap for Cooperation aimed at strengthening academic exchanges, joint research, and people-to-people connectivity between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

The document was signed at a formal ceremony held at TSUOS by H.E. Ahmed Farooq, Ambassador of Pakistan to Uzbekistan, and Dr. Gulchexra Rikhsiyeva, Rector of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

The roadmap sets out a shared framework to advance mutual understanding and academic collaboration, while promoting a deeper appreciation of the two nations’ historic, linguistic, and cultural ties. It outlines strategic objectives to facilitate faculty exchanges, guest lectures, joint webinars, and collaborative research initiatives between TSUOS and leading universities in Pakistan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Ahmed Farooq emphasized the importance of academic partnerships in fostering long-term goodwill and regional cooperation, noting that education and culture serve as “bridges that connect nations beyond politics.” Rector Rikhsiyeva echoed the sentiment, highlighting that TSUOS places special importance on partnerships that encourage cross-cultural learning and promote regional understanding.

The event concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to launch initial joint academic activities within the next academic year, underlining the shared resolve to translate the roadmap into tangible outcomes.

The initiative reflects the growing momentum in Pakistan–Uzbekistan relations, where educational diplomacy is increasingly seen as a vital pillar of their broader partnership for regional peace, knowledge exchange, and mutual progress.
