Kazakhstan Issues Widespread Winter Weather Alert as Conditions Intensify

Kazakhstan’s meteorological service has issued a broad weather warning affecting 12 regions and three major cities, with severe winter conditions expected to intensify on January 20.
Forecasters warn of widespread fog, icy roads, strong winds, and severe frost across much of the country. Mountainous areas of the Zhetysu and Almaty regions are forecast to face heavy fog and icy conditions, making travel particularly dangerous, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
Astana is expected to see snowfall and ground blizzards, while Almaty city and the Atyrau region are preparing for dense fog and slippery roads. In Pavlodar region, snow, snowstorms, fog, and strong winds are likely to significantly reduce visibility.
Residents of Turkistan region have been warned about icy roads, fog, and high winds, while fog is also forecast for the Kyzylorda and Zhambyl regions. North Kazakhstan is set to experience snow, snowstorms, ground blizzards, and fog.
Authorities are urging drivers and residents to exercise caution and closely follow weather updates as conditions deteriorate.
