SUPARCO achieves milestone in human spaceflight program
ISLAMABAD, (Monitoring):-Pakistan’s national space agency, SUPARCO, has reached a key milestone in its human spaceflight program, with two astronaut candidates now being prepared for a mission aboard the China Space Station, Radio Pakistan reported.
The two astronauts, Khurram Dawood and Muhammad Zeeshan Ali have already departed for China to undergo advanced training, marking Pakistan’s entry into a select group of countries participating in human spaceflight initiatives.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has appreciated this major advancement by SUPARCO in promoting deep space research. He also paid tribute to the enduring and strong friendship between Pakistan and China.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan’s inclusion in the human spaceflight mission reflects the close and cooperative ties between the two countries.
The mission, expected later this year, will see a Pakistani astronaut serve as a payload expert on a Shenzhou mission.
The astronaut will conduct microgravity experiments in fields such as material science, fluid physics, and biotechnology, with potential benefits for climate action, food security, and industrial innovation.
