Uzbek Authorities Nab Smuggler in Major Cross-Border Drug Bust

Uzbekistanโs State Security Service, along with internal affairs agencies, has detained a suspect in a joint operation targeting the illegal trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances, and powerful medications.
According to The Caspian Post, citing Uzbek media, the 43-year-old resident of Uchkuprik district illegally crossed the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border in the Rishtan district of the Fergana region to enter Uzbekistan from a neighbouring country.
A search carried out in the presence of witnesses led to the seizure of 9,542 units of the potent drug Zardex, valued at an estimated 1.32 billion soums. The confiscation was formally recorded in line with established procedures.
Authorities noted that Zardex contains pregabalin, a substance classified as potent with restricted circulation under a Cabinet of Ministers resolution issued on September 27, 2019.
