Kyrgyz Flag Soars at Dostuk as Border Area Undergoes Transformation

A 45-meter flagpole bearing the Kyrgyz national flag has been installed at the Dostuk checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border, turning the site into a modern recreational zone.
The project, initiated by Osh Mayor Zhenishbek Toktorbaev, included the demolition of a former gas station, extensive landscaping, the paving of walkways, and the installation of benches, The Caspian Post reported via Kyrgyz media.
The state flag was raised in a ceremonial event, officially marking the commissioning of the renovated area.
The inauguration was attended by the mayor, City Council Chairman Bolot Bayetov, members of parliament, consuls from neighboring countries, and local residents. Toktorbaev personally oversaw the site during the planning stage to ensure the project met the city’s standards for public comfort and visual appeal.
The renovation is intended to improve the look of the border zone while creating a welcoming and functional public space for residents and visitors near the key checkpoint.
