Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, Meets Defence Minister Khawaja Asif to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD:- Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev, held a meeting with Pakistan’s Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, on Monday to further strengthen the cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of deep-rooted historical, cultural and spiritual ties that bind Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Minister Asif reaffirmed that Pakistan highly values its partnership with Uzbekistan, which continues to grow across multiple sectors.

The discussion centred on expanding defence and military-technical cooperation, as well as enhancing collaboration aimed at promoting regional stability. Particular emphasis was placed on advancing joint infrastructure and connectivity initiatives, including the strategically significant “Uzbekistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan” railway corridor project.

Ambassador Tukhtaev highlighted the positive trajectory of bilateral relations in recent years, noting increased engagement in defence, education, humanitarian cooperation, and tourism. He appreciated Pakistan’s support toward stronger regional connectivity and praised the launch of direct flights connecting Tashkent with Islamabad and Lahore. The Pakistani side expressed interest in exploring additional air routes to facilitate greater people-to-people and economic exchanges.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue active diplomatic dialogue and arrange reciprocal visits to explore new avenues of cooperation in detail.

The Uzbek Ambassador reaffirmed his government’s commitment to working closely with Pakistan to further cement the growing partnership between the two nations.
