Fazlur Rehman Slams Govt Over Trumpโ€™s Nobel Prize Nomination

ISLAMABAD:
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has strongly condemned the governmentโ€™s decision to nominate U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling the move an insult to the victims of American military aggression.

Speaking at the JUI-F Punjab General Council meeting in Phagwari, Murree, Fazl criticized both the current and former establishments for their stance on religious seminaries and foreign policy decisions.

He demanded that the government immediately withdraw the nomination, citing Trump’s record of violence and unlawful interventions.

โ€œTrumpโ€™s hands are stained with the blood of Palestinians, Iraqis, and Afghans,โ€ Fazl said.

โ€œBy attacking Iran, he has violated national sovereignty and international law. If we canโ€™t stand with Iran, must we then support Israel?โ€ he asked.

He asserted that JUI-F would stand firmly with Iran and warned against efforts to sever religion from politics.

Defending Sovereignty, Rejecting Submission

Fazl expressed dismay over what he termed as โ€œun-Islamic and unconstitutionalโ€ laws being introduced in the country.

He stressed that while Pakistan can pursue friendly relations with the U.S., it must never come at the cost of national dignity.
โ€œWe support friendship, not slavery,โ€ he said.
โ€œAll relations must be based on respect for Pakistanโ€™s sovereignty, public mandate, and economic freedom.โ€

The JUI-F leader also revealed that a U.S. delegation had visited him three times in the last three months, and that he had recently attended one of their diplomatic events.

He pointed to Indiaโ€™s isolation during recent conflicts, stating, โ€œModiโ€™s era is over, and India must now reflect on its failures.โ€

Fazl reminded party workers of their duty to address both domestic and global issues and spread the partyโ€™s message across all sectors of society with commitment and sincerity.
