High-Powered US and Iranian Delegations Arrive in Islamabad for Landmark Peace Talks

ISLAMABAD:- The federal capital of Pakistan has officially become the epicenter of global diplomacy today, April 11, 2026, as high-powered delegations from both the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived to participate in the “Islamabad Talks.” The American delegation, led by Vice President J.D. Vance alongside Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, was received with high-level protocol by a Pakistani reception committee including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. During the welcome, Deputy PM Dar commended the U.S. commitment to regional stability and expressed a firm hope that all parties would engage constructively to transition the current ceasefire into a permanent peace.

Earlier, the delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in the capital, headed by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. They were welcomed by the same senior Pakistani leadership, joined by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. In separate official statements, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Pakistan’s pivotal role as a facilitator, emphasizing a steadfast desire to guide both nations toward a “lasting and durable solution” to the conflict that has recently gripped the Middle East.

To accommodate this historic summit, Islamabad has been transformed into a diplomatic fortress, with the government declaring a public holiday to manage the city’s security. As the negotiations begin, the presence of such high-ranking officials from Washington and Tehran in a single city marks a significant milestone for Pakistani diplomacy and a crucial moment for global economic and regional security.
