Sonya Hussyn Prefers Film Production Over Acting as She Plans Career Shift

ISLAMABAD: Acclaimed Pakistani actress Sonya Hussyn has announced her intention to step away from the television industry, stating that her true passion now lies in film production.

Known for her versatility and impactful performances, Sonya says this shift is driven by her desire for creative control and a more fulfilling artistic journey.

From Drama Screens to Behind the Camera

Sonya revealed that the repetitive nature of drama scripts and the ongoing issue of delayed payments in the TV industry were among the reasons for her change in direction. โ€œThere are limited opportunities for growth in television,โ€ she said, adding that film production offers her the freedom to shape content that aligns with her vision.

Having already built an impressive portfolio with roles in successful television dramas like Aisi Hai Tanhai and Aik Chubhan Si, as well as in films such as Moor and Tich Button, Sonya is no stranger to pushing boundaries. Now, sheโ€™s aiming to bring quality and innovation to Pakistanโ€™s evolving film scene from behind the lens.

Still Actingโ€”for Now

While she is gradually moving away from acting, Sonya clarified that she hasnโ€™t completely retired from it yet. โ€œIโ€™ll continue acting for only a few more years,โ€ she stated, leaving the door slightly open depending on how life unfolds. She also spoke about her views on marriage, adding that if her future husband disapproved of her acting career, she would be willing to leave it behind.

โ€œI believe in respecting my partnerโ€™s values. If he doesnโ€™t approve of me acting, I will step back,โ€ she said. Sonya also emphasized that she would only consider marriage with someone who is well-mannered, well-educated, and respectful.

Her decision has been met with mixed emotions from fansโ€”some saddened by the prospect of her reduced screen presence, others inspired by her bold career pivot.
