Azerbaijan, Austria Boost Parliamentary Diplomacy and Eye Deeper Energy Cooperation

An Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation led by Tahir Mirkishili, head of the Azerbaijan–Austria Inter-Parliamentary Working Group, has paid an official visit to Austria for discussions on bilateral parliamentary ties and issues of mutual interest.

During a meeting with Austrian Parliament Speaker Walter Rosenkranz, both sides assessed the current state of relations and underscored the growing importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral cooperation, News.Az reports, citing local media.

The discussions also touched on Azerbaijan’s role in Europe’s energy security, as well as potential avenues for collaboration with Austria in the energy sector.

In addition, the Azerbaijan–Austria Inter-Parliamentary Working Groups convened at the Austrian Parliament to review regional developments, the peace agenda, the transition to green energy, the expansion of Central Asian cooperation formats, and new opportunities emerging from Azerbaijan’s engagement in these frameworks. They also explored Azerbaijan’s role in enhancing connectivity between Europe and Asia.

The meetings were attended by Rovshan Sadigbayli, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Austria, and Azar Karimli, a member of the Azerbaijan–Austria Inter-Parliamentary Working Group.
