Tajikistan, Russia Move to Deepen Cooperation across Key Sectors

DUSHANBE: Tajikistan, Tajikistan and Russia intend to expand cooperation in economic, humanitarian, and legislative fields, Trend reports citing the press service of the Tajik President.

The initiatives were discussed during a meeting between President Emomali Rahmon and Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of Russia’s Federation Council.

Talks focused on strengthening collaboration within the framework of the two countries’ strategic partnership, with particular attention to enhancing interparliamentary relations. President Rahmon highlighted the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in reinforcing political dialogue and promoting progress in trade, economic, and humanitarian spheres.

He also stressed the importance of improving the work of joint parliamentary committees, especially in economics, investment, energy, healthcare, and environmental protection. Plans were further outlined to expand cooperation in legislation, digitalization, entrepreneurship support, and social policy.

The meeting additionally reviewed Tajikistan’s current chairmanship of the CIS, the results of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent state visit to Tajikistan, and the CIS and Central Asia–Russia summits held in Dushanbe. Both sides also exchanged views on future cooperation within other regional and international organizations.
