India’s Opposition Casts Doubt Over Asian Cricket Council Annual Meeting Amid Rising Tensions

The annual meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has come under serious threat due to strong opposition from the Indian government and the BCCI. India has been pressing member nations to change the venue and date of the meeting, scheduled for July 24 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Sources reveal that India has launched an intense lobbying campaign, encouraging some member countries to boycott the event. While Sri Lanka and Oman have backed India’s stance, the majority of member countries remain firm in their support for ACC President Mohsin Naqvi and want the meeting to proceed as planned.

This tension follows the recent political fallout that led to the postponement of India’s cricket tour to Bangladesh, further highlighting the increasing intertwining of politics and sport in the region.
