Islamabad Rejects Modi Linking Pakistan with Terror

Islamabad: Pakistan has firmly rejected the recent allegations made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling them baseless, provocative, and irresponsible.
In a strong statement issued by the Foreign Office, Islamabad dismissed the accusations as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and escalate regional tensions for political gain.
The statement criticized Modiโs remarks, which were made during a public address in Rajasthan, as distorted and inflammatory, noting that such rhetoric undermines the principles of responsible state behavior and international norms.
The Foreign Office on Friday categorically rejected the โbaseless, provocative, and irresponsible allegationsโ made by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who in a heated speech accused Pakistan of carrying out terrorist attacks in his country.
The military confrontation between New Delhi and Islamabad came as tensions over last monthโs Pahalgam attack continued to build up, as India โwithout evidence โ blamed Pakistan for the attack.
On the night of May 6-7, India launched aย series of air strikesย in Punjab and Azad Kashmir, resulting in civilian casualties. Islamabad responded byย downing five Indian jets.
Afterย interceptingย drones sent by India andย tit-for-tatย strikes on each otherโs airbases, it took American intervention on May 10 for both sides to finally drop their guns and declare aย ceasefire.
India has since continued its aggressive posturing even as Pakistan has warned against any further military aggression andย offered talks.
Yesterday, the Indian premierย saidย that Pakistan would not get water from rivers over which India has rights.
According to a statementย issuedย by the FO on X today, โPakistan categorically rejects the baseless, provocative, and irresponsible allegations made by the Indian prime minister during a recent public address in Rajasthan.
โThe remarks, replete with distortions, misrepresentations, and inflammatory rhetoric, are clearly aimed at stoking regional tensions for narrow political gains,โ the FO said, adding that such statements not only reflect a deliberate attempt to mislead the public but also violate the norms responsible statecraft.
โResorting to threats and boasting about military action against a sovereign nation is a grave breach of the United Nations Charter and established principles of international law,โ the FO said.
โThis dangerous approach undermines regional peace and stability,โ it added.
The foreign ministry said that Pakistan remained a โconsistent and proactive partner in the global fight against terrorismโ.
โAny insinuation seeking to associate Pakistan with acts of terrorism is factually incorrect and patently misleading,โ it continued.
It noted that the Indian premierโs tactic was โoften employed to divert attention from Indiaโs own internal challengesโ, adding that the Indian attempts to mask its โserious human rights violationsโ in occupied Kashmir by scapegoating Pakistan were well-documented and increasingly recognised by the international community.
โThe plight of the Kashmiri people and their just struggle for self-determination cannot be obscured by aggressive rhetoric and political deflection.โ
Pakistan urged the Indian leadership to โexercise responsibility and restraintโ, the FO said.
โEscalatory statements and belligerent posturing serve no purpose other than exacerbating tensions.
โRather than resorting to fictitious narratives and warmongering for electoral mileage, India should demonstrate maturity by resolving outstanding disputes through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy,โ the FO noted.
It added that Pakistan remained firmly committed to โpeaceful coexistence, regional stability, and constructive engagementโ.
โHowever, our desire for peace should not be misconstrued as weakness,โ it said, adding that the people and the armed forced were โfully prepared and capable of defending the countryโs sovereignty and territorial integrityโ.
โAny misadventure or aggression will be met with a resolute and proportionate response,โ the FO added.
It said that Pakistan has demonstrated its resolve in the past and will do so again, if required.
โThe international community must take serious note of Indiaโs aggressive posture and hate-driven narratives that threaten regional peace,โ it said, adding that it was โimperative to discourage such rhetoric and actions to preserve stability in South Asiaโ.
โGlorification of conflict benefits no one, and the path to lasting peace lies in dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law,โ it concluded.
The tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following last monthโs attack in Pahalgam. Without presenting evidence, India blamed Pakistan for the incident.
In response, India launched airstrikes on May 6 and 7 targeting areas in Pakistanโs Punjab and Azad Kashmir, which led to civilian casualties.
Pakistan retaliated by shooting down five Indian fighter jets and intercepting several drones, including famous French Rafale.
The hostilities escalated further with reciprocal strikes on airbases, eventually prompting U.S. intervention on May 10, which led to a ceasefire agreement.
Pakistan Waters
Despite the truce, India has maintained a confrontational stance, with Prime Minister Modi recently threatening to cut off Pakistanโs access to river waters that flow from India.
In response, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to peace and regional stability while warning that its willingness to pursue diplomacy should not be mistaken for weakness.
The Foreign Office emphasized that Pakistan is fully capable of defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity and would respond firmly to any act of aggression.
โRather than resorting to fictitious narratives and warmongering for electoral mileage, India should demonstrate maturity by resolving outstanding disputes through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy,โ the FO noted.
It also highlighted Pakistanโs consistent efforts in the global fight against terrorism and rejected any attempts to associate the country with such acts as misleading and factually incorrect.
India Human Rights Violations
Furthermore, Islamabad accused New Delhi of using aggressive narratives to divert attention from its internal issues and human rights violations, particularly in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Pakistan argued that India often resorts to hostile rhetoric to mask the plight of the Kashmiri people and to deflect from calls for self-determination in the region.
The statement urged Indian leadership to act responsibly and refrain from actions or statements that could further destabilize the region.
Pakistan called on the international community to recognize the risks posed by Indiaโs aggressive posturing and hate-driven narratives.
It warned that glorifying conflict serves no one and that the only sustainable path to peace lies through dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law.
โAny misadventure or aggression will be met with a resolute and proportionate response,โ the FO added.
The Foreign Office concluded by stressing that while Pakistan seeks peaceful coexistence, it remains fully prepared to defend itself if provoked.
